Design 2: Do you always need to see Design?

After our discussion last Wednesday I am almost overwhelmed at how much you can see, hear, feel, touch, and I would guess also taste design that is all around us.
The question that really got me thinking was when Dr. Schneiderman asked our group: Do you always need to see design? My answer is NO!! Composing music is designed. Textures of objects have a feel to them that can distinguish one from another and are designed. I am assuming that the tastes of foods are designed. If you think of flavor combinations like ice cream they are mixed or “designed”. Pink’s ideas presented about design is all around us and touches our lives everyday.

John, what you say here really gets me thinking! You bring up a really good point about design. It seems that it is so important how things are perceived based on their design, whether it be a song or a meal that is placed in front of you at a restaurant. I think we depend a lot on design and not only the aesthetics but the functionality of design as well. I really enjoyed what you had to say here and it definitely is interesting to think about!
